No quorum for July – no minutes to approve
M. Clifford made a motion to enter into executive session on a personnel matter. M. Ryan 2nd to enter executive session at 5:30. M. Clifford motioned to come out of executive session at 6:13. M Droege 2nd. No action was taken
Discussion on the resignation of Bo E. Ramos as Recreation Director and the Commission’s lack of understanding on what its role and responsibilities are, now. M. Clifford stated that she and the Town Manager have not had a chance to meet to discuss the select boards thoughts on a revised draft of the by-laws submitted by M. Clifford to the Town Manager in July. The Commission will invite the Town Manager to the next Recreation meeting.
Lee Stockwell offered to begin to organize the Family Fun Day. It was decided to have it at the Rec Ctr (CVS) so people can see the potential this building has as a community recreation center. A tentative date has been set for Saturday, September 9, 2023.
CVS Discussion
The proposed floor plan from Hale, LLC was discussed. The Commission was not satisfied with the plan because it did not include any classroom space for programming. The Commission would like to have 3 classrooms. Parking will be an on-going issue because of the proposed entry to the building being on the west side with just a single lane.
M. Droege restated that the Town should retain the first right of refusal should the select board decided to accept an offer from Hale, LLC.
Department Updates:
Crystal Beach
M. Clifford reported that revenue will be down this season because of a lot of rain.
New stairs have been installed for the sailing camp.
Director’s Report - Youth Sports
Registration is open for fall soccer and teams are being formed. The program is still looking for coached.
